Description
All three TRX420 models are popular with recreational and utility riders alike, making them among the best selling ATVs in Canada. These “right-sized”, easy-handling ATVs are renowned for their durability and value and right at the top of the 420 lineup sits the TRX420 DCT EPS. All the same features as the other 420s, including the remarkable power steering system from the TRX420 EPS, but the DCT EPS has one revolutionary feature that the others don't - a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). How revolutionary is DCT? Well not only do the other 420s not have it, but neither does anyone else's ATV. This unique offering from Honda provides the compact size and strength of a manual transmission (no belts to slip, break or burnout) with the convenience of an automatic transmission. So advanced is this transmission that it can even sense how hard the machine is being ridden and select from economy or sport shift-modes to best suit the operator's riding style. DCT even offers the option to override automatic operation altogether and shift manually via handlebar mounted buttons. Perhaps best of all, because at the heart of DCT there is actually a manual transmission being shifted automatically by a computer, DCT does not suffer from the same parasitic losses as hydraulic automatic systems making it ideally suited to the smaller 420 cc engine. Reliable, efficient, proven and so smooth in operation it seems almost magic.
TRX420 DCT EPS - automatically better
EPS - Electric Power Steering - Reduces steering effort and also reduces handlebar kickback when wheels are deflected by obstacles, improving comfort and control.
DCT - Dual Clutch Transmission - A computer controlled, fully automatic, seamless shifting transmission with gear-on-gear efficiency and durability. DCT also allows operators to override automatic operation and shift gears manually via handlebar-mounted buttons

DCT features a dual shift mapping program that automatically selects between two transmission shifting modes—either Cruise or Sport mode—for optimum shift timing depending on the rider’s pattern of throttle operation. During aggressive use, the Sport mode kicks in and holds the transmission in gear longer before shifting to deliver more aggressive performance. During more casual operation, the Cruise mode allows the transmission to shift up sooner for more casual performance and enhanced fuel efficiency. In addition to the fully automatic mode, the DCT transmission also allows riders to employ Honda's exclusive Electric Shift Program (ESP) for easy shifts with the touch of handlebar-mounted buttons.
